Final Essay

I did my project on The Beatles to prove that they were the most influential band of all time. One of the best parts about the project was reading the book "Yeah! Yeah Yeah!" by Bob Spitz. Not only did I learn a lot about The Beatles and their career, I also got to enjoy a great read. Another thing I loved about the project was the interview I got to do. I interviewed a guy named Nathan Wright. He plays in a local band around here. I loved interviewing him because he gave me actual answers instead of reading someone elses information off of the internet and using it.

I learned way more than I thought I would by doing this project. I learned everything from before The Beatles were a band till after they had broken up. I learned how The Beatles met and how they became famous. I learned how crappy their individual lives were before they became famous. I learned why their music is so influential. I also learned that they will continue to be the most influential band of all time. I would definitely say The Beatles are the most influential band of all time.

If I could have done this project differently, there would be a good bit I would have changed. For starters, I would have done my work on time. This is because when I actually did do my work I realized how interesting all this information was. I also would have done my interaction sooner and tried to do something more interesting like go to a concert. I also would have read more on the topic. The last thing i would have done differently is read both books I had gotten front to cover.

"But on the radio, on vinyl and cassette and CD, they became not kids, not a band, not anything like anything else, they were The Beatles. A vastness of talent, of charm, of genius incomprehensible, an ocean like the one the four boys had once looked out on, peering west from the hills of Liverpool. And from them, a flood of song and love and pain and beauty, a flood that cascaded out of the Cavern and Hamburg and London into the world, a flow that pushed aside what had come before and, in the end, nourished," (Spitz 221).

"Beatles Revolution"

In the video, "Beatles Revolution," many famous music artists tell about The Beatle's music, influence, and their status today. One musician says, "They reinvented themselves, and us." This quote is very short but says a lot. It tells us just how influential they were. It implies that their music shaped how all music is today. The video also says The Beatles were the first to produce their own music. The Beatles not only shaped music for generations to come, they also shaped their time. The Beatles remain the best selling recording artists still today. The Beatles simply made rock into art.

This video just proves even more that The Beatles were indeed the most influential band of all time. It should simply be accepted considering they are still the best selling recording artists even through they are far passed this time. The Beatles also a huge impact on music because they wrote their own lyrics. They were the first musicians to do so. I completely agree with the statement that The Beatles made rock into art.

"Britains Succomb to Beatlemania"

"Britains Succomb to Beatlemania"

In the newspaper article by "The New York Times" "Britains Succomb to Beatlemaina," they talk about the Beatles as they were first emerging in Britain. There were many frantic girls who would attack the Beatles in order to just simply touch them. It goes on to say, "By comparison, Elvis Presley is an Edwardian tenor of considerable diffidence." Knowing how famous Elvis was and the impact he had on music, this quote makes you realize just how influential the Beatles were. They're music's mix of both pop and rock and roll is what made their music stand out so much.

After reading this article, I realize the Beatles were more influential than I thought. They're unique sound contributed to their success. Referring back to the quote about Elivs, the Beatles were on a higher level than Elvis. You might think that's not a big deal, but truly that is shocking.

The Beatles are the most creative band of all time

In an article called "The Beatles are the Most Creative Band of all Time," by Peter Cross, he tells us how The Beatles were the most creative and influential band of all time. The reasons are as follows: great form, best songwriters, best singers, most creative players, great charisma, and sexual aura. The Beatles had great form, or in this case content, because they produced music that embodied the lifestyles that each musician was living as well as the lifestyle the band as one was living. They were the best songwriters because every song had it's own unmistakable sound and was significantly different from the last. All of the Beatles could sing many different ranges. Even Ringo, the drummer, could carry a tune. "Ringo mastered the art of drum sounds. No drummer has ever recorded so many different sounds on so many different sounding records." Ringo is considered on of the most influential drummers of all time. Ringo was not the only one who was creative. John and Paul could play the piano as well as the guitar. George also accomplished many new sounds on his guitar. They had a great charisma, or in other words they had an unusual ability to influence people and arouse devotion. The Beatles had major sexual aura. It was quite obvious considering every show the Beatles performed girls would be screaming the entire show. Not only that, girls would even faint.

The article gives many reasons as to why the Beatles are the most creative, and obviously, the most influential band of all time.
I've been reading a book about The Beatles, and from what I've read, they did have great content that fit in with all of their lives as a band and as individuals. They had absolutely wonderful lyrics, not like the stuff you hear on the radio today. All of The Beatles had truly amazing voices; listening to their songs will prove this. Their music was indeed creative; I mean have you ever heard anything like it? Each player brought something unique to the band. They were all extremely talented at what they did. Their charisma was amazing. They are still influencing bands and musicians around the world today. It is also obvious that they had huge sexual aura. I know if I got to see The Beatles I would scream, cry, and possibly faint like all the other girls.

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" is a biography about The Beatles from the beginning of their career till the very end. Bob Spitz, the author, basically sums up how The Beatles became the most influential band of all time. Spitz writes, "But on the radio, on vinyl and cassette and CD, they became not kids, not a band, not anything like anything else, they were The Beatles. A vastness of talent, of charm, of genius incomprehensible, an ocean like the one the four boys had once looked out on, peering west from the hills of Liverpool. And from them, a flood of song and love and pain and beauty, a flood that cascaded out of the Cavern and Hamburg and London into the world, a flow that pushed aside what had come before and, in the end, nourished." The Beatles had many unique qualities as a band and individually. The Beatles took rock 'n' roll and made it everything it is today. The Beatles started their career poor and unknown, but finished as the greatest band of all time.

Bob Spitz wrote a wonderful biography on The Beatles journey called "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" In the book, Spitz writes about everything that brought The Beatles together and apart at the end of their career. I was expecting the book to be boring, but Spitz surprised me and kept me hooked throughout the book. I learned a lot from the book. I almost feel like a Beatles expert now. I know just about everything about them and every hard time they had.

There were a few things I loved about the book. I loved how descriptive Spitz was. It wasn't overly descriptive to where the reader would be bored, but just the perfect amount. I also loved how Spitz wrote in general. He used a lot of similes and metaphors in his writing. I also loved how he began and ended the book. The only thing I did not like about the book was how long it took me to read. It was too much information to take in the time I had to read it. It was quite overwhelming. Overall, I would say Bob Spitz wrote a pretty good book.

In the video "30 Years Ago," Billy Mason does a report on The Beatles to celebrate their 30 year anniversary. One person says The Beatles were so adored because of how different they were. She talks about their different look, personality, and music. One man talks about how girls would pass out and scream constantly trying to simply touch The Beatles. The Beatles changed how kids in America tried to dress and fix their hair like The Beatles. "They are the most popular band in history. Who would have known, 30 years a. go, how they would have came to change our music and change our lives," says reporter Anthony Mason. The Beatles will continue to be the most popular band of all time. They will also continue to change music and our lives.

The video tells us that 30 years ago today The Beatles played in America for the first time ever. They go on to prove The Beatles changed many things about many people. The Beatles were, obviously, the most popular band of all time. They didn't just influence the girls though, they influenced boys by the way they dressed or the music they played. The Beatles will continue to influence and change music and people's lives.

Interwiew with Nathan Wright

I recently
interviewed my sister's boyfriend Nathan Wright. He is 22 years old and the main guitarist for his band. He seemed to agree strongly with me about The Beatles being the most influential band of all time. His band plays mostly soft alternative rock and classical rock. Their music does not sound like The Beatles, but it is in the same genre as their music. Nathan told me that one of the bands his group is most influenced by is The Beatles because their music had so many different ranges and variety. When I asked him if he thought The Beatles would continue to stay popular throughout time he basically told me that there is no possibility they would die down. When asked why no other bands have topped The Beatles he replied, "Well most bands have other bands that sound very, very similar to them, but no one has come close to the sound of The Beatles." Nathan also told me that every band is definitely influenced by The Beatles directly or indirectly. At one point Nathan said, "I guess every band just wants to be like The Beatles and create super sweet music. Every band strives for it, but I doubt there will ever be a band like The Beatles again." This statement is so true.

I did not learn much from my interview with Nathan; instead, I was ensured of the things I already knew by Nathan. I did learn that many bands music is categorized as the same genre as The Beatles even though they sound nothing like them. Nathan ensured the fact that The Beatles were the most influential band of all time. He agreed with me that they do indeed influence every band or artist in some way, shape, or form. He said one thing that just really wrapped the interview up on a great note, "I guess every band just wants to be like The Beatles and create super sweet music. Every band strives for it, but I doubt there will ever be a band like The Beatles again." I was just awed when I heard that quote because it sums everything about The Beatles in two simple sentences.
